SURFING IN LOMBOK

Lombok is also known for its best secret surf point, The Desert Point. Still very isolated but for most Australian surfers they named it as "Desert Point", located in South West cost of Lombok. Desert Point also known as Bangko bangko beach. A long walled and incredibly hollow left hander that on its day can break up to 300 meters, growing in size from takeoff to end. Best between 3-8 ft. Surfing in Lombok is much less hassle than in Kuta Beach Bali.

For the last few years, Bangko bangko or Desert Point stays undeveloped. No resort's facilities or restaurants. Most surfers hire a car and camp (overnight). They carry their own meals and beverages.
The new development of an International 5 stars Holiday Resort "The Sundancer" will change a bit of the area settings, which is will be good for Lombok's future of Tourism development. Kuta Beach & South Coast of Lombok (The Gerupuk Beach) also offer good quality of surf. You may need to hire boat from locals to take you to the wave's point.

If you stay in Kuta Beach Lombok, ask around, many locals surfer will guide you to find the waves. Other place in Lombok for surfing is the west coast of Gili Air, and Gili Trawangan.
